Another day fully and completely blowing off work. I wonder how long I can get away with this. I wonder why I'm not using this time of leisure to make intentional strides toward the next port of safety.
At the office today and there are two new guys, Jack & Jeff. Jeff is like, classic israeli. Small, bald, affluent white guy. Makes pointed effort to call shakshuka and hummus israeli food (which like, i get shakshuka to some extent, but calling hummus israeli? is a joke to me). He made a pointed effort to bring up israel but then qualify himself by saying that he's not political. I think he was sussing me out for what he could say around me.
Jack is kinda just a dude. Likes basketball. Likes to zone out to a video game now and then. Worked at a previous job that was kind of a bummer.
The Israel thing is really bugging me. I was taking for granted how easy I had it at work politically up to this point, but I think navigating stuff with Jeff, balancing my moral lines and my jobsona... Hmmmm. Seems challenging, you know?
EDIT: this was originally written on April 23, but now it's May 1 and everyone's in the office again. The israeli guy still doesn't sit right with me, but here he is and what do I do other than keep it chugging. Ughhhhhhhh.
